Son of Joseph Arnold Dager and Nora Josephine Gladieux. He was a tailgunner in WWII. Married Catherine V. O'Shaughnessey (1910-1997). They had one daughter, who was Catherine's from her previous marriage: Mary Lou (b. 1930).

S/Sgt. Walter C. Dager (Indiana) a Tail-Gunner next to his gun position on his B-17 Flying Fortress "Bad Penny" with the 324th Bomb Squadron, 91st Bomb Group. S/Sgt. Dager shot down a German Folk-Wolf 190 fighter during daylight raid on Germany.
