OBITUARY.
Mrs. Sallie E. Allen departed this life on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 1901, at 9:35 o'clock p.m.
She passed away surrounded by her family and friends and amid the triumph of that faith which assures a great entrance into the land of peace and rest, a land where sorrow and suffering are unknown.
Sallie Elizabeth Sheetz was born in Shelby county, Mo., Jan. 4, 1847. She was the daughter of H. T. and Rebecca Sheetz, and lived with her parents until Oct. 25, 1965, when she was united in marriage with Thomas E. Allen. She lived to raise all her family to full maturity—four children—two boys and two girls, all of whom are still living and were at her bedside at the time of her death except the eldest son, Bowen, who lives in California.
Feeling the necessity of divine grace to assist her over the troubles of this world, she gave her heart to God when a child and for many years was a member of the Presbyterian church. Later, when O'Bryen Chapel was organized, she united with the M. E. Church, South, in which church she held her membership till, the time of her death. She lived a faithful and consistent christian life, never faltering till relieved by death. She never missed a service at church when it was so she could go; she did not go from a source of habit, but felt it her duty as a true christian woman to attend these services, doing all she could to lead others in the right path. Mother, though we cannot go to church now and see you in your old accustomed place, yet when we look at that vacant seat here we know that there is one more seat filled in heaven. The home is broken, for it is no longer home without mother. She will be greatly missed, but we shall mourn for her not as those without hope, but by the grace of the Almighty One we shall meet again and believe that God controls all these circumstances and doeth all things well, and that by and by we can look upon her dear face again.

Thou art gone to thy rest, dear mother,
From toil and trouble free—
Safe in thy heavenly home,
We can but envy thee.

Thou are gone to thy rest, dear mother,
Where thou wilt know no pain—
But what is now our temporal loss
Is thy eternal gain.

Thou art gone to thy rest, dear mother,
How soon we will follow thee—
And if we walk in wisdom's ways,
We shall thy glory see.
