Funeral services for Mary L. Griffen, 79, of Bear Creek Township will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 24, at Stone Funeral Home, Petoskey. The Rev. John Spohn of the Trinity Pentecostal Church of God in Boyne city will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Griffen died Aug. 20, 1984, at Little Traverse Division of Northern Michigan Hospitals.
The former Mary L. Sage was born March 25, 1905, in Chandler Township, Charlevoix County, the daughter of Edwin and Leona Sage. She attended school in Springvale Township and Boyne City where she graduated from high school. On March 24, 1923, she married Earl C. Ross in Boyne city. The couple made their home in Bear Creek Township and he died on July 19, 1954. Later she married John Kabler in Petoskey and he preceded her in death on Aug. 4, 1967.
She then married Milo Griffen in Petoskey and the couple have made their home in Petoskey.
Mrs. Griffen was a member of the Trinity Pentecostal Church of God in Boyne City.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Robert Ross and Edwin Ross, both of Petoskey; 6 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and one brother, Newton Sage of Boyne city; one sister, Mrs. Etta Bearup of Old Hickory, Tenn.
The families suggest memorials to the Trinity Pentecostal Church of God Memorial Fund. Envelopes for that purpose are available at the Stone Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23.
