John W. Chambers was the eldest child/son of William Chambers and Nancy DeYarmon, who were married about 1850 in Jefferson County, Ohio.

Raised in the Decatur, Washington County, Ohio area, he met and married Angeline Cornes, daughter of Andrew M. Cornes and Julia Ann Ray, on 2 Sep 1880 in Washington County, Ohio. He was aged 28 and she 27.

Of this 1st marriage 2 children were born:
i. Cora May Chambers
ii. Willard E. Chambers

Angeline passed away on 24 Sep 1891 at age 38. The following year, on 14 Jun 1892, John, now aged 41, married 15 year old Mary Llewellyn Lieving, daughter of Jacob Lieving and Caroline Shaw, in Ritchie County, West Virginia.

Of this 2nd marriage, 4 children were born:
iii. Charles Franklin Chambers
iv. John William Chambers
v. Martin VanBuren Chambers
vi. Velma Caroline Chambers

John, a life long farmer, struggled with a diagnosed heart condition for nearly 2 years before it took his life. He was laid to rest on 6 Apr 1918.

All in all his life spanned:
66 years, 5 months and 19 days.
