From the 1913 'Wadhams Genealogy' by Harriet Weeks (Wadhams) Stevens we have on pg. 538 ". . . Caleb 'Wadams' married second Mrs. Mary (Rude) Hammond, widow of Luthan Hammond, who died in Fleming, N. Y., in 1806. She was born 30 November, 1757, and died 4 October, 1832. She had twelve children by her first husband, one of whom married Caleb Wadams, Junior; none by the second marriage. . ." She goes on to say "Descendants of this Caleb spell the name Wadams and Waddams, but none Wadhams." And I can add, DAR listings have Rood and Roode but none Rude. -tcd
