Obituary Tuesday, 10 Jan 1950

Mrs. Laura Louisa Gray (1871-1950), mother of Mrs. Baggett, of this city, died Wednesday morning, Jan. 4, at her home in Thomasville, Ga., after suffering from the effects of a broken hip for the past five months.
Funeral services were held at the Forsythe-Bearden Funeral Chapel, Thursday afternoon at 3 o’clock with Rev. N. G. Christopher officiating. Interment was made in the Cairo cemetery with P. M. Baggett, Albert Collins, Paul Collins, Roy Collins, Sam Collins and Arthur Collins, all nephews of the deceased serving as pallbearers.
Mrs. Gray was born June 27, 1871 in Grady County, daughter of the late Malachi and Louisa Collins. She was married July 4, 1895 to John Richard Gray, who survives. There are four sons, L. G., Tom, G. M. and Luther Gray. There are five daughters, Mrs. S. A. Muggridge, Mrs. Baggett, Mrs. J. S. (Effie) Shoemaker, Mrs. Vera Gray Collins and Mrs. G. D.. J. H. and A. T., are brothers. Thirty-one grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren also survive.
Mrs. Baggett and children, Joanne, Johnnie and Dan attended the funeral service and returned home Sunday night.
