Lora Oleita Aldridge Bankston passed away Friday, February 1, 2013 in Birmingham, Alabama, where she had made her home for the past 10 years. Born in Jefferson County, Mississippi on March 23, 1920 to Ashley Jack Aldridge and Nina Anders Aldridge, Lora spent most of her life in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Most recently, she was a member of Riverchase Church of Christ in Birmingham. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Odis Hendry Bankston Jr.; her brothers, Ashley Russ, Henry Elmo, and Bernice Eugene; brother-in-law, Dent Bruce Bankston; sisters-in-law, Helen Hall Aldridge and Audrey Singleton Aldridge; and nephew, Randall Dent Bankston. Survivors include Lora's daughter and son-in-law, Kay Bankston Kolb and Frank Rupert Kolb of Hoover, Alabama; grandson, Eric Frank(Staci Forrester) Kolb and their children, Savannah Kathryn and Carson Forrester; grandson, Kyle Bankston (Carrie Cagle) Kolb and their children, Lilli Ann and Ila Kate; and grandson, Ivan Blake (Jaime Hyche) Kolb and their son, James Hendry. All of the grandsons and their families live in Birmingham. Lora is also survived by her nephew, David Lamar Aldridge; nieces, Dianne Aldridge Goulas and Cindy Aldridge Hamilton of Baton Rouge, Rebecca Aldridge Bayliss of Shreveport, Louisiana, and Cathy Bankston DeLee of Jackson, Louisiana; sister-in-law, Mary Williams Bankston of Jackson; as well as a number of great-nieces and great-nephews. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 12 noon on Wednesday, January 6, 2013 at Greenoaks Funeral Home, Baton Rouge. The graveside service will be in Greenoaks Memorial Park, Baton Rouge at 12 noon on Wednesday, February 6, 2013. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Rainbow Omega, PO Box 740, Eastaboga, AL 36260.
