NORTHPORT Dorothy C. Ables finished her journey on this earth Jan. 23, 2013, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Stephen Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

She is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She is also having an exciting reunion in Heaven with her husband of 58 years, George Marshall Ables; her parents, Robert L. and Ida C. Coleman; her sister, Kathryn C. Hoggle; her brothers, Jimmy and Joe Coleman; and many other family members and friends who have passed on.

She leaves on this earth to love and cherish her memory her children, Carol Ables van der Blom (John) and Charlotte Ables Johnson of Tuscaloosa, Sarah Nell Geddie of Northport, Vernon Coleman of Northport, R.L. Coleman of Marion, and Hazel Johnson of Cottondale; grandchildren, Tina, Tim, George, Angela, and David; great-grandchildren, Kimber, Joshua, and Abbigail; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mother was born November 1, 1930. She grew up in Perry County and graduated from Perry County High School. She and her family have spent the past 50-plus years in the Tuscaloosa County area. She worked as Office Manager and Bookkeeper alongside her husband in the family business, Ables Garage, until they retired.
