Alice Kane, age 93, of Minneapolis, was born April 1, 1919 and died September 22, 2012. She was born in Bevington, IA to Martin and Agnes Gallagher Gavin. In March of 1944 she joined the Women's Marine Corp. and served her country in Washington, DC until her discharge in August, 1946. Her bunk mate in the Marines, Jean Waterston, was from Minnesota so Alice moved to Minneapolis in October, 1946. Her working career in Minneapolis included Pillsbury Mills, Conoco Oil Co and Delta Dental. She married Don Kane in 1947 and they had one son. Alice is survived by her son, Tom (Jenny) of Belle Plain, MN; 3 grandchildren, Morgan, Jenna and Jonah; a sister, Aggie Gavin of Des Moines; and a cousin, Mary T. Ellis (husband Jim Ekstrom) of Edina; dear friend, Gerry Chesley; other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by her husband, Don; parents, Martin and Agnes Gavin; and a brother, Albert Gavin. Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, September 26 at 11 am in the chapel, with visitation 1 hr. prior, at the Church of St. Patrick, 6820 St. Patrick's Lane, Edina. Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. First Memorial Chapel Mpls. 612-825-4567
