Charles Bender, 84, of Ontario died Wednesday morning, January 24, 2001 at Woodlawn Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mr. Bender was born September 4, 1916 in Olivesburg, Ohio living in the Mansfield area all of his life. He retired from White Westinghouse after 35 years of service. He attended Ontario United Methodist Church and was a veteran WWII serving in the United States Army.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Elizabeth Sauer Bender; three sons and daughters-in-law, Darrell & Rose Bender of Ontario, Ralph & Linda Bender of Johnsville, Ohio, and Kenneth & Patricia Bender of Ontario; five grandchildren, Matthew, Ryan, Kimberly, and Michael Bender and Leisa Casey; two great-grandchildren, Chase and Tyler; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elias & Katherine Franklin Bender; six brothers; and three sisters.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Thursday from 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home conducted by Rev. James F. Winkler. Burial will be in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Ontario United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
