Clifton M. Johnson, 74, Hooversville, died March 8, 1986, at Somerset Community Hospital. Born March 27, 1911, in Hooversville, son of William and Della (Brown) Johnson. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Warren; infant son, Claire; and daughter, Janet. Survived by wife, former Mary Umberger, who he married Jan. 29, 1930; children: Jerry, and Dixie, both of Cleveland, Ohio; Jack, Stoystown; and Linda Ferrell, Jacksonville, N.C.; grandchildren: Clif, Larry, and Pam. Brother of: Milton, Hooversville; Evelyn Dillen, and Betty Ferrish, both of Meryersdale. Retired coal miner. Member of Mercersburg Sportsmen's Club, New Baltimore Sprotsmen's and lifetime member of Hooversville Sportsmen's. Death ends a marriage union of 56 years. Friends received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at Thomas Read Funeral Home, where service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, the Rev. Gerald Myers. Interment, P.O.S. of A. Cemetery, Hooversville. In lieu of flowers, donations to Diabetes Association of Hooversville Lutheran Church would be appreciated.
