Gerald was employed by Chief Freight Lines in Dallas as a truck driver for fourteen years and was a heavy equipment operator for the City of Dallas for twenty years, retiring in 2002. He lived in Seagoville prior to moving to Wills Point thirteen years ago. Gerald enjoyed watching NASCAR and the Dallas Cowboys. He also enjoyed carpentry work. Gerald was a member of Turner Baptist Church south of Wills Point.

Gerald is survived by his wife, Patsy Ruth Drinning, of Wills Point; two sons, Jerry Wayne Drinning & wife, Elizabeth, of Wills Point and Freddie Joe Drinning & wife, Desiray, of Scurry; daughter, Tina Pierce & husband, Anthony, of Seagoville; three brothers, Kenneth Drinning & wife, Ellen, of Wilmer, Roger Drinning & wife, Annette, of Combine and Danny Drinning & wife, Vickie, of Winnsboro; two sisters, Nelda Hewitt, of Grand Saline and Linda Vanbriggle & husband, Johnny, of Canton; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He passed away early Thursday morning, January 31, 2013, in Wills Point.
Gerald was born January 16, 1945, in Dallas, Texas, the son of Harry Lee Drinning, Sr. and Myrtle Jewel Nelson Drinning.
He was raised in Dallas. On April 7, 1962, he married Patsy Abbott in Dallas.
Gerald was employed by Chief Freight Lines in Dallas as a truck driver for fourteen years and was a heavy equipment operator for the City of Dallas for twenty years, retiring in 2002. He lived in Seagoville prior to moving to Wills Point thirteen years ago. Gerald enjoyed watching NASCAR and the Dallas Cowboys. He also enjoyed carpentry work. Gerald was a member of Turner Baptist Church south of Wills Point.
Preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dellie Richardson and a brother, Harry Lee Drinning, Jr.
