Gerald was born January 16, 1945, in Dallas, Texas, the son of Harry Lee Drinning, Sr. and Myrtle Jewel Nelson Drinning.
He was raised in Dallas. On April 7, 1962, he married Patsy Abbott in Dallas.
Gerald was employed by Chief Freight Lines in Dallas as a truck driver for fourteen years and was a heavy equipment operator for the City of Dallas for twenty years, retiring in 2002. He lived in Seagoville prior to moving to Wills Point thirteen years ago. Gerald enjoyed watching NASCAR and the Dallas Cowboys. He also enjoyed carpentry work. Gerald was a member of Turner Baptist Church south of Wills Point.
