CARBONDALE -- Charlene Bragg, born Alice Charlene Ellis, 93, passed away at home on Aug. 5, 2002, surrounded by her children.

She was born Jan. 10, 1909, in Anna, the first child of Charles Earl and Myrtle Helen (Brown) Ellis.

She was united in marriage May 15, 1929, in West Vienna (Boles), to Earl Bragg, a well-known local cement contractor. He died Oct. 26, 1985, after 56 years of marriage.

She leaves behind those who meant most to her in her life, her children: two daughters, Patricia Janet Goodman of Carbondale, and Rita Joan and husband, Dick, Cannon of Carbondale; a son Michael Earl and wife, Kathleen, Bragg of St. Charles, Mo.; Patricia's children, Gregg Goodman of Swansea, Jeffrey and wife, Phyllis, Goodman of Loveland, Ohio, Laura Goodman of Alpharetta, Ga., and Lynne and husband, Paul, Harren of Marietta, Ga.; Rita's children, Sherry and husband, Bob, Evans of St. Charles, Cathy and husband, John, Williams of Carbondale, Mark and wife, Kristine, Cannon of Riverside, Calif., Patrick and wife, Brenda, Cannon of North Charleston, S.C., Michael's children, Jon Bragg of Carbondale and Carrie-Anne and husband, Henry, Gomez of Kennesaw, Ga.; 21 great grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Survivors also include her sisters, Phyllis Imhoff, Jean Harris, and Peggy Mills; and a brother, Gerald, all of Carbondale.

Her parents; and brothers, Calvin, Robert, and John Ellis, all preceded her in death.

Mrs. Bragg was a long time and faithful member of University Baptist Church.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Crain Funeral Home Pleasant Grove Chapel, where she will be buried beside her husband in Pleasant Grove Memorial Park.

Robert Goepfert, associate pastor emeritus of University Baptist Church, will officiate.
Visitation will be one hour before the service.

Memorials may be made to the University Baptist Church or VNA/TIP Hospice, in care of the Chapel. Envelopes are available at the Chapel.
