Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Crawshaw Mortuary Chapel in Murphysboro for the Rev. Fred G. Attig, a retired church missionary who died Sunday in St. Joseph Memorial Hospital.

The Rev. James Johnson, of the American Sunday School Union, will officiate, with burial in Pleasant Grove Memorial Cemetery.

The Rev. Mr. Attig was a retired missionary of the American Sunday School Union. He served as a rural missionary for the union for 37 years, including 20 in Northern Wisconsin, and 17 in Southern Illinois.

He was born Oct. 19, 1889, in Kellogg, Iowa, the son of George and Catherine Freyermuth Attig. He was married Feb. 12, 1912, to Velva Bishop, who died Sept. 18, 1945. He was later married April 29, 1954, to Opel Renfro.

The Rev. Mr. Attig was a member of the Methodist Church.

He leaves his wife; sons, Maurice of Largo, Fla., Walter of East St. Louis, and Lyle, Wayne and Austin, all of Murphysboro; daughters, Mrs. Berea Tribbey of Largo, Fla., and Mrs. Charollette Lundy of Denver, Colo.; 18 grandchildren and 5 greatgrandchildren; sisters, Mrs. Lena Clark and Mrs. Lilian Stoneman, both of Des Moines, Iowa; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Don Howard of Palatine; and a stepson, Garland L. Larrell of New Haven, Conn.
