SILOAM SPRINGS - Dollie Pilkington Garrett, 85, of Siloam Springs died Dec.
1,
1997, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital. She was born Feb. 24, 1912, in
Ponca
City, Okla., to Frank and Mabel Potter Pilkington. She was a longtime resident
of Siloam Springs. She was instrumental in beginning the lunch-room
program in
the local school system and was a graduate of Siloam Springs High School.
She
was a member of Siloam Springs Arts Club, the PTA, and the First Baptist
Church
in Siloam Springs. She was involved in retail sales at Oklahoma Tire and
Supply,
Garrett Coaxial Cable and Tommye's Fashion Shop. Survivors include one
son,
Charles F. Garrett of Durant, Okla.; two daughters, Peggy Puls of Tulsa, Okla.,
and Tommye Strassheim of Siloam Springs; eight grandchildren; eight
great-grandchildren; two brothers, Leonard Pilkington of Fort Smith and
Henry
Pilkington of Pryor, Okla.; two sisters, Pearl Sprow and Pauline Rouse, both of
Ponca City. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in
Siloam Springs with Dr. Jerry Hopkins officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill
Cemetery under the direction of Wasson Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.
