Barbara Weller was born September 1, 1771, in Thurmont, Frederick County, Maryland, the 4th and last child of Philip and Juliana Wotring Weller. She was also the granddaughter of four immigrants: Johann Jacob Weller and is wife, Maria Barbara Wilheit; and Johannes Daniel Wotring/Vautrin and his wife, Anna Maria Rebmann. On May 1, 1789, in Frederick County, she married John Christian Stauffer, son of Yellis Stauffer. They were the parents of 10 children: Catharina Sophia, Elizabeth, Maria, Sarah, Daniel, John, Matilda, Henry, Carolina and Julia Anna Stauffer. Barbara passed away February 12, 1845, in Thurmont, and was buried on the 14th in Graceham Moravian Church Cemetery, Graceham, Frederick County, Maryland.
