He was born and raised in Azalea, OR and lived in the surrounding area his entire life, excluding two years that were spent in the Navy during World War II. He enjoyed playing old time music with the Western Aires who volunteered around the community at retirement homes and care facilities.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia "Ricki" L. West and son, Michael W. Jenks.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette L. Jenks; sons, William Jenks (Nampa,Idaho) & Jimmie Jenks (Days Creek, Oregon), daughter, Jeri Armstrong of Days Creek, OR; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and one great great-grand-daughter.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2009, at 2 p.m., at the Days Creek School Gymnasium.
