A son of the late L.C. and Ella Mae Edwards South, he was born Sept. 22, 1926, in Stephens County he lived in Atlanta and Sarasota, Fla., most of his life and in Eastanollee since 1996. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II and retired from Fruit Shipping in Florida. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mae Collins South of the home; three sons, John South of Toccoa, Jim South of Clairmont, Milton South of Marietta; four grandchildren; three brothers, Coy South of Marietta, Dan South of Snellville, Don South of Charlotte, N.C.; two sisters, JoAnn Hayes of Snellville and Sue Long of Marietta.
