Robert Chamberlain "attended School Districts 4 and 9 in Stanton County and Stanton High School in 1942. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942 until 1946. He was a private first class in the South Pacific, New Guinea, Philippines and Japan. He married Verna Nissen on Nov. 29, 1942, at New England Congregational parsonage in Stanton. The couple farmed south of Stanton until retiring in 1989."

He was survived by his wife, 2 sons and their wives, 1 daughter and her husband, 1 sister, 8 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.

"He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, two infant granddaughters, one great-grandchild and one brother."
