Betty Ruth Bales, born on May 20, 1928, passed away on January 27, 2013, at St. Alphonsus Hospital in Boise, Idaho.
She was preceded in death by a son, Ken Scott, and her second husband, Ernest Bales.
Betty was the second of seven children born to Reuben and Violet Gartin near Mountain Grove, Missouri. Surviving siblings are: LaVonna Latimer, Helen McCollum, Wayne Gartin, Frank Gartin, Doyle Gartin and Nancy Smith.
Betty married Jim Scott in 1947 and five children were born to this union, Jerry Scott, Don Scott, Ken Scott, Ron Scott and Marie McGaughey. Ten grandchildren came later.
Betty and Jim were divorced and Betty later married Ernest Bales. They enjoyed life together for 35 years. Ernie passed away in 2011.
Cremation is under the direction of Summers Funeral Homes, Ustick Chapel. Services will be held at a later date at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery.
