Darlington- Byron H. Paynter, age 92, died on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 1981, at his home. Born in Blanchard Township on Sept. 27, 1888, he was the son of Charles and Johanna Flesher Paynter. He was married on Feb. 18, 1920, in Darlington to Esther Merriam.

Survivors are two daugthers, Mrs. Harvey (Amy) Page, Rochelle, Ill., and Mrs. Stanley (Marion) Howard, Darlington; a son, Robert, Mineral Point; three brothers, George and Preston, both of Darlington and Roy, Dodgeville; two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Cullen and Miss Hazel Paynter, both of Darlington; ten grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Darlington, and the Raymond C. Eustice Barracks of Platteville. He had served in the Army in France during World War I.

Funeral services will be held from the First Baptist Church, Darlington, with burial in the Union Grove Cemetery.
