James C. Rose, 78, of Scottsbluff died Thursday morning in a local nursing home.

He was born Oct. 19, 1891, at Steedman, Mo., where he grew up and attended school. On Sept. 2, 1912, he married Ida Mae Northern in Bluffton, Mo.

He worked for the railroad for several years and followed construction work until moving to Scottsbluff in 1943. At that time he went to work for the Campbell Potato Company retiring in 1953.

He was a member of the First United Methodust Church.

Survivors include five sons, Forest S. and Edwin R., both of Scottsbluff, Orvey A. of Climax, Colo., Lowell D. of Spearfish, S.D., and James E. of Mitchell; a daughter Mrs. Glen (Shirley) Plaster of Scottsbluff; three sisters, Mrs. Maude Desmon of Columbia, Mo., Mrs. Sarah Jane Twitchell and Mrs. Jessie Mae Twitchell both of Fulton, Mo., 23 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Two sons and one brother preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Dugan Funeral Chapel with the Rev. James E. Rowe officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
