2nd Bn.King's Own Scottish Borderers
Son of Captain Edward Douglas Wyndham Lawford, D.S.O., R.N., and E. Marion Lawford. of Bay Horse.
He was at 9th Corps battle School at Catterick as an instructor. He was undergoing an obstacle course (probably on Bellerby training area) and the officers in charge had placed explosives around the course which were exploded from a point 200 yard distant in order "to give battle atmosphere" (Colonel of KOSB). The exploder clearly misjudged the situation. He sustained serious injuries to one leg and to his pelvis and died soon afterwards.
