Obit: After a lingering illness, John Webster Botts, 83, a retired farmer and a native and a resident of Clinton County, practically all his life, died at his home, 1161 South First street, Frankfort, at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon. He had been in a serious condition about ten weeks.
Funeral services will be held at the Pilgrim Holiness Church at 2:30 o'clock, Sunday afternoon, with the Rev. W. A. Frye of Indianapolis officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery near Kirklin.
Mr. Botts was born north of Kirklin on October 18, 1849, a son of James and Margaret (Purcifull) Botts. He married Mrs. Ella Shaffer in 1928, following the death of his first wife, Esther C. Reeves, in 1926.
With the exception of one year which he lived in Oklahoma, Mr. Botts had lived in the county all his life, moving to Frankfort after retiring from farming in 1923.
Well and favorably known throughout the county, the news of his death, though not unexpected, came as a blow to his friends who were legion. He was a member of the M.E. Church near Kirklin.
He is survived by the widow, one daughter, Mrs. Kate Wright of near Avery; two sons, Jesse Botts of Kirklin and Bert Botts of Indianapolis; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, all by the former marriage.
Mr. Botts was a kind and loving husband, and father and his home was his shrine. He was loved and respected as a helpful neighbor and as a friend.
