Vera I. Doom, 93 of LaSalle died at 5:52 p.m. Tuesday at Mercy Memorial Hospital. She had been in poor health for several years.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Rupp Funeral Home. She will lie instate Saturday 9 a. m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church Erie with the Mass of the Resurrection at 10 a.m. Rev. Fred Kalaj, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.
Born December 25, 1919 in Chatham, Ontario, she was the daughter of Roy and Bernice (Mills) Scaman. She married Charles C. Doom on December 18, 1940 at St. John Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on November 17, 1983.
Vera and her husband Charles owned and operated Charlie's Bar in LaSalle for forty three years.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church Erie and its Altar Society and was a former member of the Bedford Senior Center.
Surviving are her children William C. (Penny) Doom and Charlene (Mike) Thompson both of LaSalle and son-in-law Ray Marlow of Toledo; twenty three grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband Charles she was preceded in death by a son Gerald Doom; daughters, Karen Karwick and Elaine Marlow; granddaughters Nichole Baer and Michelle Karwick and a great-grandson Darrin Whitaker.
