Joseph Blanton, for a long time one of South Richmond's leading citizens and business men, died yesterday at the residence of his son, J. Stuart Blanton, in Newport News.
He was sixty-nine years old and came to Manchester in March 18??. He served the Confederate Army during the War Between the States. Besides his son, he leaves two daughters, Misses Louisa and Ruth Blanton, both of Newport News.

The funeral service will be conducted to-day at 2 P. M. from the Bainbridge Street Church, of which he was for many years a deacon. The interment will be made in Maury Cemetery. The body will be carried from the train and placed in the church, where it will rest until the hour for the funeral.

The following have been requested to act as pall-bearers: W. T. Davidson, J. E. Davidson, L. B. Franklin, J. H. Patterson, John E. Utz, F. A. Lamb, Judge J. H. Ingram, M. A. Rightsell, J. F. Bradley, A. J. Bradley and Wellington Brandis. The Times-Dispatch, Saturday, February 4, 1911.

Funeral of Mr. Blanton.
The funeral of Joseph H. Blanton, of Newport News, who died in that place Friday, was conducted yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Bainbridge Street Baptist Church. The interment was made in Maury Cemetery. A number of friends of the deceased were at the train to receive the body, and a large crowd followed the remains to their last resting place.
