Betsey M. Proctor Blood was born in Newbury, New Hampshire on the 15th day of Nov., 1825 - Was united in marriage to Halcey(sic) H. Bloof in Dec. 1838 - in Claremont N.H. They came to Wisconsin in April 1859 and in the fall of tht year., bought what is known as the Blood Homestead in this city and lived continueously on the same until Dec. 19th, 1910 when she went with her brother to California where she has resided since with him or his daughter Mrs. W. B.Coy. Since going to California her health has been good until four months ago, when she contracted the whooping cough through sympathy for a little grand nephew, son of Mrs. Coy. This finally terminated in an attack of bronchial pneumonia which caused her death on the 20th day of this month. She retained her senses until the very last and shook hands with her little nephew not more than two minutes before her final breath.
Mrs. Blood always a great home body -- was a noble mother, an affectionate sister, a true friend and loved neighbor, as many will witness who knew her during her fiffty years in this city. To these friends and neighbors with whom she lived for so many years - to you for your presence and sympathy at the funeral service, her relatives wish to extend heartfelt thanks.
At the time of death Mrs. Blood was 89 years 9 months and 5 days old. "she came to herr gravve in a full age, like as a shock of corn cometh in its season."
Mrs. Blood's remains were brought to this city frm Sabastopol, Cal., accompained by her brother and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. D. D. Proctor. The funeral took plae Monday afternoon, servives onducted at the grave in Greenwood cemetary by Rev. G. A. Bird.
