Funeral services for Virgie Mae Combs Engle were held in the Whitesburg Freewill Baptist Church Whitesburg,Kentucky on Thursday, May 21, 1970 at 2 o'clock pm.
Officiating minister were Rev. Clyde Damron, Rev. Homer Lee Mullins and Rev. Tinsley Stamper.
Burial in the Family plot of Sandlick Cemetery Whitesburg, Kentucky. Ray Collins Funeral Home Whitesburg Kentucky in charge of Funeral Arrangements.
Virgie Mae Combs Engle the daughter of the late Shade Combs and Frankie Godsey Combs. She was born December 22, 1895 in Hazard Kentucky and passed from this life May 18, 1970 at her home in Whitco Kentucky. Making her stay on earth 74 years, 4 months and 26 days. She had worked hard all her life and she provided well for her children. But God called her home to rest.
Early in life she was married to the late Jarvie Engle and to this union were born 10 children. She had been left to take care of her children and this she did with all her might. She was the most faithful woman to her family that could be found anywhere. For the past few years she had been sick and in and out of the hospital and praying to go home to be with her children.
Preceding her in death 2 daughters Margie and Roseddy Engle and 2 brothers James Matthew Combs and Robert (Bear) Combs.
She leaves to mourn her passing five sons Bobby, Golden, Lawrence and Teddy at home, Clarence (Steve) Engle of Michigan City Ind. Three daughters Lydia at home, Lula Engle Caudill of Middletown Ohio, and Charlotte Engle Autrey of Alabama. Three sisters Judy Combs of Bearville, Martha Ellen Combs Gayheart of Hazard, Lucinda Combs McCray of Columbus Ind. Two brothers George and Hop Combs of Bearville Kentucky. She also leaves 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren besides a lot of family and friends.
