Thayne Leon Marsh passed away January 5, 2013 surrounded by family and friends.

Thayne was born on December 2, 1949 to Mearle and Virginia Welch Marsh in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was raised in Rose Park and graduated from West High School.
Thayne served a two year Western States Mission for the LDS church before coming home and achieving a degree in Sociology at the University of Utah.
He married Deaun Archibald on February 28, 1975 in the Logan Temple where they were sealed for eternity.
Thayne had a deep love and testimony of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and held countless callings, from being a leader in the Boy Scouts and young mens' programs, to serving as a member of the Bishopric, as well as teaching in the primary, Nursery and Gospel Doctrine programs.

One of Thayne's best qualities was his way of making the hardest subjects simple. He was an amazing teacher not only in his church callings, but also in running a successful business as a teacher, as well as in raising his kids and coaching them through their various endeavors in life.
Thayne had a love of music. He loved singing with his brothers and playing the trombone. Thayne was also a die hard University of Utah fan.
What he enjoyed most, however, was anything his kids were involved in. We love you dearly dad and you will be missed.
Thayne is survived by his wife, Deaun; their 5 children, Courtney, Matthew, Douglas, Katie, and Kami; and 1 grandson Carson; brothers Don, Lyman, Scott (Mary), Robert (Terri), and Mearle (Holly); sisters Patra(Don)and Melodie(Dave).
He was preceded in death by his father Mearle and mother Virginia, a loving niece Lauren and his favorite uncle Fred. We know his reunion with Gogo was sweet.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to everyone involved in his care from LifeFlight and the trauma unit at IHC Murray Hospital, all of his doctors, Konstantyn Szwajkun MD and Barclay Bigelow MD, and nurses as well as the pharmacists at Shopko for his long-term care.
A viewing for Thayne will take place Thursday, January 10th from 5-7 pm at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley 1007 W South Jordan Parkway, South Jordan, Utah. Funeral services are Friday, January 11th at 12:00 noon at the River 2nd Ward Chapel located at 1540 W 10400 S with a viewing from 10:30 - 11:30 prior to the Service.
