Emsley Parks Marsh was the son of Leonard & Hannah (Thornburough) Marsh. He married Mary Waddle on February 6, 1857 in Schuyler County, Missouri. To this union six children were born Walter, Amanda, John, Mary, James and Daniel Boone. Mary died in October 7, 1864 in child birth.

He married Sarah Frances Atteberry on July 14, 1865 in Scott County, Missouri. Sarah Francis was the daughter of Stephen and Martha (Ellis) Atteberry. To this union ten children were born Martha, Charles, Stephen, Rose, Clarence, Thomas, Hatty, Matty, Maude and Frank.
