Clay Center - Alice Abels, 17-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Abels, living six miles west of Clay Center, was killed by an accidental discharge of a shotgun. No one else was present when the accident occurred. Miss Abels had left the house to go to her car in the yard. Her parents did not hear the discharge of the shotgun, but shortly afterward she was discovered dead near the car, shot through the heart. Miss Abels was a junior in the Clay Center high school, and an accomplished musician. The family is prominent in Clay Center.
