Obituary from FORT MYERS NEWS-PRESS, Tuesday, February 20, 1990 - Jesse T. Padilla, 76, of Matlacha died Monday. Born July 13, 1917 on Big Hickory Island (Big hickory island is located in the Estero Bay) Bonita Springs, FL, he was a lifelong resident of Lee County. Mr. Padilla was a
commercial fisherman who owned and operated fish businesses in Lee County for 36 years, the latest being St. James Fish Company in Bokeelia. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pine Island, Lee County chapter of O. F. F., D. A. V. Chapter #75 of Fort Myers, American Legion Post #38 of Fort Myers, V.F.W. Post #4353 of Fort Myers, Moose Lodge #2199 of Cape Coral and Elks Lodge #1288 of Fort Myers. Mr. Padilla is survived by his wife of 53 years, Velma Padilla; three daughters, Virginia Morton, Susie Robertson both of Bokeelia, and Deborah Bryce of Cape Coral; a brother, Andrew L. Padilla of Panama City, Fla.; a sister, Anna Jean May of Cape Coral; 11 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Harvey-Engelhardt Funeral Home, 1600 Colonial Blvd., with the Rev. Tommy Rickards officiating. Local interment will follow. Friends may call today from 6-8 p.m.
at the funeral home.
