Wuanita Botts, age 90, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away at 12:45 a.m. on Saturday, January 26, 2013, at the Ozarks Methodist Manor iln Marionville, Missouri. She was born June 22, 1922, in rural Mt. Vernon, the daughter of the late Roy and Saddie (Smith) Perriman. Wuanita was a homemaker and a member of the Assembly of God , Church on the Loop. In November of 1939, Wuanita married Dean Botts in Mt. Vernon, Missouri and he preceded her in death on May 31, 1992. Over the years, Wuanita and Dean cared for many foster children; some through the state social services and some simply children of friends in difficult circumstances. Wuanita frequently said her purpose and ministry in life was caring for children. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her children, Jack Botts of Marysville, Washington, Dorothy Jo Helm of Stratford, Oklahoma, Harold Botts of San Mateo, California and Linda Russell of Clever; one sister, Maxine Butler of Mt. Vernon; one brother, Jerry Perriman of Carl Junction; twelve grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and many others who also called her "Mom" or "Grandma". In addition to her parents, a sister Helen Irene, and brothers, Paul, Onan, Charles, Harry "Mac", Percy, James Lloyd, Robert, and Jackie also preceded her in death. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2013, at the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with burial at Summit Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday in the funeral home chapel. Memorial donations may be made to Hillcrest Children's Home. Online condolences may be shared at this website.
