WALTER J. MAKAROWSKI "MACK" CROWN POINT, IN Walter J. Makarowski, age 70 of Crown Point, passed away Sunday, December 27, 2009.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Mary; children: John (Yvonne), Jim (David Bentley), Julie (Bobby) Mack, Jennifer (Kevin) Sullivan, Joe (Jana); grandchildren: Gabrielle Makarowski, Megan and Drew Sullivan, Mathew and Caitlyn Makarowski, Emilee and Noah Bridwell; sister, Joan Vadas; uncle, Joseph Hap; aunt, Helen (Al) Poracky; sister-in-law, Flora Baranowski; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Makarowski was preceded in death by his parents: Walter and Anne Makarowski, Sr.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 31, 2009 at 12:00 noon DIRECTLY at St. Michael Catholic Church, 1 Wilhelm Street, Schererville, IN with Rev. Martin Dobrzynski officiating.
Burial will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Wednesday from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. with a wake prayer service at 3:00 p.m. at the Lincoln-Ridge Funeral Home , 7607 W. Lincoln Highway, Schererville, IN (Rt. 30 east of Cline Ave).
Walter was a retired employee of Inland Steel with 37 years of service and a member of the Inland 25 Year Club. He was an active member of St. Michael Catholic Church including working for St. Vincent DePaul (Good Samaritan), also bingo night. He was a volunteer with Lake Hills Fire Department, a scout leader and Meals on Wheels. Walter will be deeply missed and remembered as a supportive loving husband, father, brother and uncle. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Michael's St. Patrick Social Hall.
