Gladys Lucille Reason Brighton, 92 of Monticello, passed away Saturday, January 26, 2013 at the Piatt County Nursing Home in Monticello.

Gladys was born in Cisco, IL the daughter of Samuel and Ruth Boyd Reason on December 20, 1920. She attended Cisco Grade School, Cisco High School for three years, and graduated from Monticello High School in 1939. The year book notes "She's full of spark and dash and go. She's different from the rest you know".

Gladys married Paul Irving Brighton, son of Clarence and Burnis Lovins Brighton in Baldwin, MO. Paul was born in Weldon in 1917 and died in 1985 with burial in Monticello Cemetery.

Gladys was preceeded in death by her parents, six brothers, and one sister. The couple had two children and is survived by three grandchildren. The two children were Larry Paul Brighton (1943-2005) and Pamela Lynn Brighton Molnar (1949-1994). Larry was a funeral home director in Belleville, IL. Larry had two sons; John Samuel and David. David also has two sons; Wren Paul and Race David. Pamela was of Elgin and had one daughter; Michelle Noel. Gladys was a farm wife and homemaker. She was an avid camper and traveler. Gladys and Paul were members of the Monticello United Methodist Church. Thru her efforts, yearly trips to Red Bird Mission in Kentucky by the Monticello United Methodist Church were begun. Memorials may be made to the Retts.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 1, 2013 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello with Rev. Greg Courtright officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in the Monticello Township Cemetery.
