Nehemiah Blanchard and Diana Bishop are his parents. He married in 1861 in Winnabago Co to Emily D. Willard , daughter of Abel Willard and Sarah "Sally" Carpenter.

They are parents of only one child:

Beda A. Blanchard-Oct 1861-9 May 1940

After his daughter was born he enlisted in the Great Civil War and died as a result of his wounds. He was in Co. I, 21st Wisconsin Regiment along with many other men from the Neenah and Oshkosh.

Royal was taken prisoner at Stones River,Tenn. on Dec 30 1862, and discharged for disability on 25 May 1863. Civil War info thanks to Tom Mueller.
