A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Montlawn Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm Wednesday at Montlawn Funeral Home.
Born and raised in Brainerd, Minnesota, Ray joined the Army and was in the 82nd Airborne. While stationed at Fort Bragg, he met his future wife, Merle Tunstall, and they enjoyed 53 years of marriage before Merle died in 2006. Ray had many interests over the years, including building and flying remote-control airplanes, gardening, woodworking, and traveling. He especially enjoyed the holidays, and was the official "taste-tester" for Merle, as she created delicious meals for the family.
Ray and Merle made their home in Garner, where they raised their two sons. He was a highly respected metal fabricator,and worked for several companies in the area.
Ray spent the last four years living at Glenaire, a retirement community in Cary, where he made many new friends, and enjoyed playing billiards and participating in their senior Olympics and competitions.
In addition to his wife, Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Hannah Selisker, and siblings, Frank and Evelyn.
Flowers are welcome, or memorial contributions may be made in Ray's name to the N. C. Lung Cancer Partnership, 4000 Blue Ridge Road, Suite 170, Raleigh, NC 27612.
