Julian Powell, 78, son of the late John Richard and Mrs. Fanny Powell, a native of Bertie County, N.C., and a resident of this section for many years, died at a Norfolk hospital yesterday at 2:00 p.m. Surviving are three sons, Julian Mallory Powell, of Norfolk, and Richard Hinton Powell and William Carney Powell, both of Virginia Beach; two daughters Mrs. W.H. Davis, Jr., of Norfolk, and Mrs. Alfred H. Rest, of Plainfield, N.J., six grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Rosa Constable, of Texas. Services will be held at the chapel of H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments tomorrow at 2 p.m., with the Rev. W.H.T. Squires, pastor of Ingleside Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
