Funeral of Mrs. Robert Hurst
Funeral services for Mrs. Robert Hurst, who died Tuesday evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs. N.K. Smith, in Kansas City, Mo., will be held this afternoon at 4:30 o'clock in the Dumm chapel. Mrs. C. P. Holmes, a reader of the Christian Science Church, will conduct the services. The pallbearers will be W.H. Brooks, F.O. Larkin, Robert Holmes, C.W. Cleaver, S.H. Warren and F.J. Dale. Interment will be made in the Maplewood Cemetery.
Miss Virginia Waskey was born in Keosauqua, Iowa, June 15, 1846. She was married to Robert Hurst in 1862 at Westport, Mo. Mr. and Mrs. Hurst moved to Emporia the same year. Mr. Hurst was one of the founders of the First National Bank of Emporia, of which he was the first cashier. He died June 15, 1878. Mrs. Hurst lived in Emporia from 1862 to 1896, when she sold the Hurst home on Merchant Street, and moved to Long Beach, Calif. Since then, she has lived in California, and in Kansas City, Mo., with her daughter, Mrs. Smith. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. W.H. Dale, of Chicago; Mrs. C.B. Hotchkiss, of Parsons, and Mrs. N. K. Smith, of Kansas City; one son, Charles A. Hurst, of Hayden, Ariz.; two brothers, J.T. Waskey, of Oswego; and T.P. Waskey, of Pittsburg; and three sisters, Mrs. J.A. Goslin, of Lomita, Calif.; Miss Mary Waskey, of Pittsburg, and Mrs. H.F. Smith, of Whiteboro, Texas.
