Dr. Kingdon Brady, 79, died March 7, 2004, in J.F.K. Medical center, Atlantis, [Palm Beach County, Florida].
He was born in Virginia, [St. Louis County], Minn.
Dr. Brady served in the Army with the 517th Parachute Infantry Regiment in Europe during World War II.
After his discharge in 1946, he attended Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, where he excelled in baseball and football. He was inducted into the Ohio University Hall of Fame in Football.
From 1946 to 1949, he was a smoke jumper in Missoula, Mont.
He received his doctor of medicine from the University of Cincinnati in 1954 and practiced family medicine in Morocco, Ind., for seven years before leaving to do a pathology residency at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio from 1964 to 1966. He practiced pathology in West Lafayette, Ind., from 1966 to 1989.
Dr. Brady moved to Florida in 1997 and lived in the Yacht & Country Club, Stuart.
He was a member of the A.M.A., Indiana State Medical Association, American Academy of Pathology, National Smoke Jumpers Association, American Rifle Association, President's Council of the John Purdue Club, Lafayette American Legion, Lafayette Country Club, Tippecanoe Country Club, Yacht and Country of Stuart, Boy Scouts of America, in which he was an Eagle Scout, and had been the coach of West Lafayette Babe Ruth baseball and won the state championship in 1969.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Bonnie McCartney Brady of Stuart; sister, Cherry Brady Balyeat of Laguna Woods, Calif.; son, Dr. Kingdon Kibble Brady of West Lafayette, Inc.; and daughters, Jill Susannah Brady of Lafayette and Kim Blodwin Brady of West Point and South Bend, Ind.
