Death Claims War Veteran

           Milton Brownfield, one of the older residents of this community and a veteran of the civil war, died at his home, three and one-half miles north of Sidney, Tuesday evening as the results of a decline due to general old age. Mr. Brownfield had been in poor health for the past four years. He was 77 years of age.

           Mr. Brownfield served through the Civil war and was twice wounded, one through the shoulder and once through the jaw. He received both of these wounds at the battle of Lookout Mountain. Mr. brownfield served with the 26th Illinois Infantry. He leaves a wife and one daughter, Mrs. Jane Mahorney, who made her home with the decedent.

           The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon from the residence. Rev. Mr. Krust, the pastor of the Christian church at Muncie, will be in charge of the services and interment will be made in the Huss cemetery.
