Charlie Edward Beckwith, 86, of 148 Beckwith Road, Pelham, died Tuesday, April 14, 2004, at the Mitchell County Hospital.
Funeral services were held on Friday, April 16, at 11 a.m. The Rev. David Pickering officiated. Burial was in Macedonia Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Doyle Beckwith, A. L. Oates, Terry Beckwith, Macel Palmer, Weldon Gilliard, and Donald Oates.
Born on Aug. 25, 1917 in Jefferson County, Fla., he was the son of the late Sallie Lee NeSmith and the late Jonah Lee Beckwith.
Survivors include two brothers, Hulon Beckwith and Irvin Beckwith of Pelham; three sisters, Mae Dee Oates of Pelham, Lorene Palmer of Columbus and Opal Jenkins of Phenix (City), Ala., and a number of nieces and nephews. Braswell Funeral Home of Pelham had charge of the arrangements.
