THE SPRINGFIELD SUN, 1982. Olie J. Ball, 82.

Olie J. Ball, 82, of Rt. 2, Springfield died on Dec. 8, at his residence. Mr. Ball was the son of the late Joseph Lud and Georgia Ballard Ball. Born i Washington County on June 18, 1900 he was a retired farmer. Survivors include one sister, Miss Alice Ball of Lebanon two nieces and one nephew.

Funeral services were conducted at St. Rose Catholic Church with burial in St. Rose Cemetery in Washington County. Rev. Christopher Allegra officiated. Pallbearers were Donald and Garland Ball, John Medley, Sr., John Medley, Jr., Walter Shnahan and Joe Murphy. A prayer service was held at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 9 Mattingly Funeral Home. Mattingly Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

NOTE: Shortly before his death, I visisted him on a a Sunday afternoon, in the summer of 1982, at his home on the Loretto--St. Rose Pike. Heading toward Springfield from Loretto his house was the first house after passing Manton Road in Washington County, Kentucky. He was very cordial and related that he had grown up neighbor to Dick and Amanda Gardner's kids, including Grover Gardner, 1885-1921. Olie said that he was a first cousin to Arthur Ball and Regina (Smith) Cambron, both of whom I knew.
