Alice Sophia Tatkenhorst was the second of three daughters born to Ben and Olga (Wiegert) Tatkenhorst at their farm south of Lincoln, Kansas. She was a life-long member of St. John, being baptized as an infant there, and confirmed there in 1936. St. John was also the site of her funeral, on 28 Jan 2013. She attended St. John parochial school through 8th grade, and Lincoln High School.
She married Milton Meyer on 16 Apr 1940 at Lincoln, Kansas. They had four children: Joyce, Judy, Jonnie, and Janice; Janice preceded her mother in death. Two years following the sudden death of Milton, Alice married Donald Hearn, on 24 Nov 1955 at Waterville, Kansas. They had two children: Dannie and Dalen. Dannie preceded his mother in death. Donald died in 1990.
Also preceding her in death was her sister, Velma, in 1999.
Alice stayed active in many pursuits, including volunteering with her daughter Joyce at the Lincoln Arts Center.
She was survived by four children, 9 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren; her younger sister Ruth also survives.
