AZ and Mildred had no children.

AZ joined the Navy at some point prior to Oct 1940. He is listed on the muster roll for USS Saratoga (CV-3) 31 Oct 1940. He also served USS Hornet CV-8 from Nov 1941 until she was sank during the Battle of the Santa Cruz Islands on 27 Oct 1942.

About the name "AZ": Family story has it AZ was named after the Doctor who delivered him. "AZ" was his given name and is not an abbreviation. He was not given a middle name.

Burial: Although there is a memorial for AZ in Sardis Cemetery. According to his siblings, AZ was not buried, his body was donated for science for medial research.
