Sarah's first husband was Rueben McPherson, Jr., married on October 7, 1815. Rueben died on January 16, 1831.
Her second husband was George Case, married May 26, 1838. George died December 26, 1840.

According to the Deats Genealogical Family File at the Hunterdon County Historical Society, Flemington, NJ,
Sarah Barton McPherson and Reuben McPherson had the following children:
Mary McPherson born May 26, 1816
Charity McPherson born May 24, 1818
John McPherson born March 4, 1821
Elizabeth McPherson born February 10, 1823
Nancy McPherson born June 28, 1825
Reuben McPherson III born April 10, 1831.

The following was taken from "Facts and Fantasies of Franklin", by JE Stout:
"A similar fever scourged Cherryville in 1845, carrying off several, among them Sarah Barton McPherson (then Case by marriage to George) and her daughter Sarah Ann Case, aged six. Neither outbreak has ever been explained. The second was at first attributed to the old well that had served the house and commuity so long; but investigation showed the well to be guiltless. Only the one family took the fever and nothing of the kind has ever been there since."

From the Will of John Barton, her father kept Sarah and her daughter with George Case, also named Sarah out of an inheritance:

WILL OF JOHN BARTON

In the name of God, Amen. I, John Barton, of the township of Raritan, in the county of Hunterdon and State of New Jersey, being weak in body, but of sound mind, memory and understanding, (for which blessing I most devoutly thank my God,) do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following--that is to say:

(Parts removed...see John Barton's memorial for entire will, Editor- Litho.)

The remaining one other Equal fourth part or share thereof I give and bequeath to my grandchildren, the children of Reuben McFarson, decd. To be divided Equally among them, Share and Share alike: To them, their heirs and assigns forever.

And it is further my will that my daughter, Sarah Case, take no part of my Estate under this my last will and testament.

In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal the Eighth day of September in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and forty three.

Signed, Sealed, published, pronounced and declared by the said John Barton, to be his last will and testament in the presence of us, who at his request, and in his presence and the presence of Each other, have hereunto Subscribed our names as witnesses.
