Nina Elsie Christopherson was born September 10, 1903 to Danish immigrant parents, Jacob and Anna Christopherson. She was born in Lafayette, Yamhill, Oregon where they had recently migrated from Minnesota. The family had purchased a 240 acre farm called the Judge Denny Place.

Nina had a twin brother named Fred who died at birth.

The family next moved to Bachelor's Island in the Columbia River near Ridgefield, Washington where Nina probably attended grade school. Her older sister Alice would row her siblings to school in Ridgefield from the island. It was here that Mabel died of cancer of the hip during the summer of 1906. Sister Laura was born here in 1907. Due to problems with frequent flooding, the family gave up farming the island and moved in 1909 to Ranier, Columbia, Oregon where Jacob worked at logging until 1912 when they bought a small farm again near Newberg, Yamhill, Oregon.

In 1916, the Christopherson family bought the Farrens Place at Gooseberry, Morrow, Oregon (south of Ione)and moved there to raise wheat. Nina and her sisters Myrtle, Laura and Clara attended school in Ione. On December 22, 1921, Nina married Elmer Jay Ball in Ione, Morrow, Oregon.

At the time of the 1930 census, the couple lived in Gooseberry, Morrow, Oregon where they were farming a wheat ranch. At that time they had three children at home having lost infant twins in 1923. Son Shirley died in 1936 and is buried beside his parents. They had another child at some time after the 1930 census.

Nina Ball died in 1939 in Wasco, Sherman, Oregon.
