Yvonne Louise Underwood, 73, of San Diego, CA, and resident of Siskiyou County since 1977, died unexpectedly Friday, January 18, 2013 at her home in Montague, California.

Yvonne was born April 12, 1939 in San Diego, California. She married Dr. Robert H Underwood on September 6, 1958. He started his chiropractic practice in 1967.

She was active in Eastern Star where she was Worthy Matron and Deputy Grand Matron. She enjoyed the Eastern Star Annual Tea and Fashion Show.

Yvonne loved horses. She organized and managed endurance races and competed in many rides including the Tevis. She could often be found riding throughout the Marble Mountains.

She loved music. She played violin in many groups, including the San Diego Community Orchestra, the College of the Siskiyous Community Orchestra, and various chamber groups and quartets.

She enjoyed knitting, camping, the Red Hat Society, and making new friends wherever she went. She was generous, encouraging, and enjoyed life to the fullest.

She most enjoyed her family and was a great support to her husband and children in all of their endeavors.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Robert H Underwood, four children, Kent of Tacoma, Washington, Troy of Elk Grove, California, Tony of elk Grove, California, and Cory of Tarpon Springs, Florida, and eight grandchildren, Jessica, Ashley, Tara, Marcus, Terina, Taylor, Merissa, and Madison.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 27, 2013 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Girdner Funeral Chapel. Graveside services will be held at the Little Shasta Cemetery on Monday, January 28, 2013 at 2:30 pm. The Eastern Star is handling the reception which will be held afterward at the home of Dr. Underwood.

Donations may be made in her name to the Eastern Star in Yreka, California.
