Mrs. William Bergener died at her home in this city, Wednesday evening, October 16th, 1912. For more than a year, she endured a painful illness and though conscious that her recovery was impossible, she bore the bitterness of her faith with unspeakable fortitude and resignation.
Deceased was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Driscoll of New Diggings, Wis., where she was born Jan. 12th, 1866, and where she grew to womanhood.
June 30th, 1892, she was united in marriage to the late William Bergener who preceded her some ten years ago.
The funeral took place in Shullsburg Saturday morning, October 19th. Services were held in St. Matthew's church of which she was a faithful and devoted member. The remains were laid to rest by those of her husband in the Catholic cemetery in northwest Shullsburg. The Ladies Catholic Benevolent Association of which Mrs. Bergener was a member attended the funeral in a body and as the remains of their sister were lowered to their last resting place offered a prayer for the repose of her soul.
She leaves to bear the sorrow of her untimely death, a son Charles, and daughter Adele, both of Shullsburg, her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Driscoll of New Diggings, two sisters, Mrs. Michael Murphy of New Diggings, Mrs. T.J. O'Neill of Seymour, four brothers, Charles and Raymond of New Diggings, James and Dennis of Butte, Montana.
