Martha Jean Carter Good, 88, Louisburg, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 21, with the love of her family surrounding her.

Martha was born November 25, 1924, the daughter of Clarence and Elizabeth (Bessie) Emmaline Whitaker Carter. She graduated from Louisburg in 1942 and from the Kansas City Business College during war-time. Then she worked in Kansas City for several years before marrying her high-school sweetheart Charles E. Good on April 12, 1947. They moved to their farm south of Louisburg where they raised crops, cattle and a family which included three daughters. Charles passed away January 9, 1983 and Martha continued on the farm until 1997 when she moved into town.

For many years, Martha was very involved in the church and was an active member of both the Drexel Methodist Church and Louisburg United Methodist Church. She was involved in the community as a 4-H leader, State Line Club and many other organizations over the years. She was a hospice volunteer in later life and helped several family in Louisburg and surround communities.

She was the guiding force and moral compass behind her family, always providing a positive outlook on life. While grounded in her rural roots, her grace and genuine kindness toward others was unmatched. Those celebrating her life and accomplishments will cherish the memories she created for her family and friends.

Her family wishes to share one of her favorite quotes and words that she lived by. "Life is not measured by hours or days, but by the way we live. Life's the lessons we learn, the dreams that we share and the happiness that we give." – Martha Jean Carter Good.

She was preceded in death by her three brothers and one sister.

Survivors include her daughters, Leann Mallory (David) and Lynette Vallacqua (Jim), both of Louisburg, and Janell Aust (Brad) of LaCygne. She also leaves behind six grandchildren, Cristy Mallory White (David), Sarah Mallory Etheridge (Brian), Jenna Vallacqua Crooks (Jason), Anthony Vallacqua, Grace and Lauren Aust. Six great-grandchildren, Carter and Avaleann White; Madison, Paige and Sydney Etheridge; Landon Crooks.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Vintage Park of Louisburg or Louisburg United Methodist Church.
